How Much Lime Do You Need?

This is a converter. It does not look at soil pH and it does not suggest a rate. Type the pounds per 1,000 square feet printed on your soil-test report, and the area of the lawn.

Pounds = area ÷ 1,000 × the soil-test rate

Sample report, not a recommendation: if the report said 40 pounds per 1,000 square feet and the lawn is 2,000 square feet, the converter returns 80 pounds. Forty is not a rate this site stands behind. A cap on one application is not verified. Follow the product label.

What This Lime Calculator Will Not Do

  • It will not turn a pH number into pounds. That table is not verified.
  • It will not cap the application. That cap is not verified.
  • It will not pick a product. There are no purchase links and no prices.

Common Mistakes With the Lime Calculator

  • Typing a pH of 5.8 into the rate field. The field wants pounds per 1,000 square feet from the report.
  • Using the sample 40 as if this site recommended it.
  • Skipping the label. The result is only the arithmetic from your report.
