How Much Gravel Do You Need?
Cubic yards = square feet × depth in inches ÷ 324
Tons = cubic yards × tons per cubic yard
No. 57 stone is 1.39 tons per cubic yard, and No. 8 stone is 1.32. Both come from the Delaware DOT material weight chart.
Sample: 200 square feet at 2 inches is 1.23 cubic yards. At 1.39 tons per cubic yard that is 1.7 tons. At 1.32 it is 1.6 tons.

If your supplier prints a different factor, choose the custom row and type it. That entry is yours, not a third site default.

Common Mistakes With the Gravel Calculator
- Using 1.4 tons per cubic yard from a chip-seal guide for a yard path. The choices here are 1.39 and 1.32.
- Using the No. 57 factor for No. 8 stone. Those are different rows on the Delaware chart.
- Entering depth in feet. The volume line expects inches.
